Meet Chloe

Hello! I’mChloe Chloe and I’ll be working as a digital marketing intern with Realise over the summer. I am currently studying for a degree in Digital Marketing in Birmingham and looking to gain as much experience within the field as possible to go alongside my studies. I’m hoping to learn skills such as social media optimisation, website development and how to implement successful email marketing campaigns. I also look forward to putting my current knowledge into practice! Here’s a small Q&A to learn a bit about me…

What was your first job role?

My first job was working as a waitress for a small local café in my hometown of Chesterfield. I started this job when I was still at school, and it felt great to be earning some of my own money. I met loads of new people here and made some great relationships with regular faces. I remember coming home smelling distinctly of bacon and fried eggs every weekend, but the free supply of bacon sandwiches was enough to make it worthwhile!

Long live bacon!

What is your favourite recent marketing campaign?

The marketing campaign that most stands out to me has got to be Spotify’s, ”Thanks 2016, it’s been weird.”, campaign. I thought the idea behind the campaign was extremely clever. Using localised data in their advertising as a way of engaging their target audience, was both amusing, creative and no doubt generated WOM. According to YouGov data, word of mouth surrounding Spotify significantly increased in the weeks following the campaign.

What phone do you currently have? (iOS vs Android)

I currently have the Samsung S6 Edge, much to the disapproval of my pro-iPhone friends! I prefer Samsung over iPhone because I find Apple as a whole, to be overpriced and gimmicky (sorry not sorry). I also prefer the Android operating system as I find the interface is customisable and easy to use.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

The first thing I do every morning, without fail, is check my phone. I read and reply to any new messages, then, before I even contemplate getting up, I scroll through Instagram and Facebook to keep updated (sad, I know). I will also browse through current affairs, so I am up to date on what is going on in the world, before going to make a coffee then eventually dragging myself to the shower.

What are your career aspirations?

My main goal at the moment, particularly throughout this internship, is to gain as much knowledge and hands-on experience as possible within the industry and I feel lucky to be given the opportunity to increase my skill set with Realise. In terms relating to my future career goals, I would like to see myself as a campaign manager, devising and running marketing campaigns. I see myself as quite creative, so I would love to be able to utilise this.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a pop star! I got a karaoke machine one Christmas and instantly thought I was the fourth member of Atomic Kitten.

Wake me up when i'm famous

What are you most looking forward to at Realise?

I am most looking forward to gaining hands-on experience from working alongside Rebecca, who has extensive knowledge of the industry. I am eager to get an insight into the dynamic and innovative digital marketing world, putting what I have learnt throughout my studies into practice and gaining valuable knowledge along the way.

What are you looking forward to this week?

This week we are attending the Let’s Do Business Expo, which I am really looking forward to! I have been doing some research and am hoping to learn a lot here, as it is the first business event I have been to.

If you’re also attending this Thursday you can follow along on the hashtag #LDBStaffs2017.
